NSPCC Child Line Assemblies and Workshops

With the help of their mascot Buddy, the programme provided child-friendly, interactive assemblies and workshops to help our children  feel empowered and explored different ways in which they can speak out about their worries and stay safe.

The ladies from the NSPCC, who delivered the Child line workshops to Y5&Y6, thanked the school for being so welcoming and said what an absolute pleasure the children of Year 5 & 6 were – they were “delightful”

Holy Week

Well done to Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 for leading us through our Holy Week prayer journey following the footsteps of Jesus.
We watched Palms being waved to welcome Jesus on Palm Sunday by Year 4 and then Year 3 led us through the events of Maundy Thursday and the Last Supper where we witnessed the first celebration of the Eucharist with the breaking of bread. Finally, Year 5 concluded our journey, as they led us through the stations of the cross and we witnessed Jesus’ love and compassion for us even as He was been put to death.

CAFOD’s ‘Turn a Little Fish into a Big Fish’ Campaign

This Lent, one of the charities that we have been supporting is CAFOD and the House Captains have explained about their ‘Turn a Little Fish into a Big Fish’ campaign. Unfortunately, millions of families around the world are living in extreme poverty – many are struggling to earn a living so do not have enough money to meet their basic needs such as food, housing and clothing. However, this Lent, we can help to change this; all of our little actions will make a really big difference to people living in poverty by helping people to set up small businesses and earn a living

The cake sale and games experience run by Y6 raised £301.57 – this will be added to the overall Lenten total at the end of our Lenten Efforts.

Well done everyone and thank you for all of your contributions!

Chess Tournament

A huge well done to the squad  for competing so valiantly. We finished a very respectable 3rd place – your strategy and skills when playing were excellent (against 36 very players) but your manners and attitude was even better!

Swimming Gala

The squad were fantastic at the All Birmingham Catholic Schools Swimming Gala. Well done to all of the children involved!

The Girls won the Girls Shield and the team won the Overall Winner team title against some very tough opposition (24 schools in total).

UNICEF Steering Group

This half term, our steering group have been working really hard to make sure that all of us understand what it means to be a Rights Respecting School and they have come up with different ways to promote the rights in our school.

They have also introduced us to our mascot and asked for help to name it…introducing Rosie Rights:

Safer Internet Day 7.2.2017

Tuesday 7th February was Safer Internet Day – a great opportunity to talk to our family and friends about the safe, responsible and positive use of technology, and to ‘give a smile’ to help create a kinder online community.

With the help of the Year 6 Digital Leaders, who led a fantastic assembly about how we can help to make a positive change online, we explored how photos can create an impression of our character and personality (our online reputation) and thought about how we could decide if a photo/image is okay to share online or not. Throughout the day, the children ran a Photo Booth in the playground – but always ensured that they had the children’s permission to take their photos and made sure that any clues for personal information about them was covered.
